Deciding whether you want to be represented by a union is a big decision and you should make it your mission to know as much as possible about the union that is asking to represent you and your co-workers.

Because the union will ask you to join and pay dues, you have the right to know who the leaders of this union are and what their track record is.

You have the right to know if they are good stewards of the money they collect from dues and if they have a positive record of representing their members.

You should make it a point to research the International Union as well as the Local Union that is asking to represent you.
